For outdoor sowingWhen March to In a prepared seed Sow thinly in rows 15cm apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-21 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 No thinning is needed if sown thinly. Keep moist and weed May to October. Harvest alternate onions from the row, leaving others to grow on.
Very popular, quick growing stems with bright green tops. Slow to form bulbs, their mild flavour makes this a great addition to salads and stir-fries.
