Agave stricta ‘Nana’

Description

A rosette of skewer-like, glaucous blue leaves with red tips has given this sharp, round ball the common name of ‘hedgehog agave’. Hundreds of spiky leaves can make up the rosette of Agave stricta ‘Nana’, and with time they can produce small offsets from the base.

WATERING

Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.

REPOTTING

This species can live in the same pot for several years. Repotting may only be necessary once every 2-3 years (or longer), once roots begin to protrude out of the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
