Description
Showy deciduous hedge or free standing shrub with long pointed buds opening to coppery-red leaves, which turn to soft green in summer, then to shades of red, orange and yellow in autumn. It is smothered with 2.5cm (1 inch) wide, delicate, star-shaped white flowers in spring which are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. These are followed in June by edible blue-black berries which are very attractive to many birds, especially blackbirds. Larger, 125-150cm (4-5ft) plants are also available.
