Description
Melocactus is a genus of around 30-40 species, known commonly as ‘Turk’s cap cactus’ due to their rather tall and instantly recognisable cephalium. The wool-like and bristle coated structure forms at the growing tip of the plant, containing a mass of areoles where flower buds eventually appear. Melocactus maxonii inermis forms a pale wooly cephalium, atop a dusty olive green stem, and produces bright pink blooms in the summer.
