Description
Commonly known as the ‘hoop pine’, Araucaria cunninghamii can be found growing across rainforests of Australia and New Guinea. The trees grow tall, reaching up to 60 meters, with a slim trunk. Sharp needle-like leaves emerge from the branches. The bonsai has a much more compact growth habit, and its grey trunk grows contorted.
WATERING
In spring and summer water well after the top 25% of the soil is dry. In winter allow the soil to dry a little before watering sparingly.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Bright, indirect.
FEED
During spring and summer feed with a nitrogen heavy fertiliser.
REPOTTING
Repot every 2-3 years or alternatively replace the top 10cm of the soil with fresh house plant compost every year.
