Description
Thyme Doone Valley is a variegated cultivar of lemon thyme plants, and its glossy dark green leaves are dotted with shades of creamy gold. In summer, the plant is crowned with clusters of small light purple flowers. Like other varieties of lemon thyme plant, Doone Valley is highly aromatic, with a citrussy scent that spreads through the garden when the plant is brushed past.
Thyme is a popular culinary herb with plenty of uses in the kitchen. It is often used to flavour casseroles, stews, savoury preserves, and stuffings. It also complements fish and chicken dishes and is a great addition to a bouquet garni. Thyme Doone Valley is ideal for making herbal teas and has decongestant properties to help boost health.
These are low-maintenance sub shrub garden plants that are simple to care for. Once established, these garden ready plants are drought tolerant, so they only need to be watered during long dry periods. Thyme herb plants prefer light, well-draining soil and don’t cope well with waterlogging. Grow your own herbs plants for a constant supply of fresh or dried thyme.
Thyme Doone Valley is an excellent choice for any herb garden, growing well in a bed, border, or large plant pot. However, thyme is also well suited to growing as ground cover plants ready to plant in rockeries and gravel gardens.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
