Lily ‘Robina’

Description

Lily ‘Robina’ is a splendid, spectacular and very special lily, with some of the shiniest pink flowers you will ever see. They have contrasting white throats, and are at their best in mid-summer. The flowers of Lily ‘Robina’ are upward- and outward-facing—not all lilies are like this—and comprise six petals and prominent stamens. Individually, flowers can grow to some 25cm across, and they’re fragrant, too. Every bulb produces a single, enormous, unbranched stem, with narrow, pointed, glossy, dark green leaves, sited at intervals and radiating out from the stem in all directions. Stems may be as much as 180cm high.

This is one of a breed of exciting new oriental × trumpet lilies, often called orienpets. Their large blooms carry the perfume of the oriental lily, with the strong growth habit of the trumpet lily. They are all hardy, and highly suited to the British climate. Grow Lilium ‘Robina’ in a sunny or part-shaded border, or in a good-sized patio container. Plus, as with all lilies, it is of course loved by arrangers for indoor displays—and even bridal bouquets!
