Wallflower – Scarlet Bedder
The neat, dwarf plants are a perfect partner to spring bulbs and early pansies. The cheerful, red to deep orange blooms carry a ‘delicious’ sweet scent around the garden. This hardy biennial reaches the height of 30cm.
Sow outdoors, from April to July, in a seed bed, 0.5cm deep, into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin seedlings to 5cm apart, when large enough to handle. Plant out to flowering position, September-November, allowing 20cm between plants. Flowers from March to May, the following year.
