Rebutia (Sulcorebutia) rauschii f. violacidermis

Description

Native to Bolivia, this miniature species grows in close-knit clusters. Rebutia rauschii f. violacidermis forms clumps of intense violet, mauve, and green stems with the smallest black spines which creates a striking geometric pattern. In late spring keep an eye out for its impressive blooms in deep magenta.

WATERING

Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.

REPOTTING

This species can live in the same pot for several years. Repotting may only be necessary once every 2-3 years (or longer), once roots begin to protrude out of the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
