Description
Mr Fothergill’s Silene Blue Angel Seeds, Eye-catching and long flowering. Do not feed as this will encourage leafy growth rather than flowers. They do well on poor, hungry soils and withstand fairly dry conditions.
Sow outdoors where they are to flower, 0.5cm deep, directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Seedlings usually appear in 14–21 days. Thin seedlings to 15cm apart. Water well until plants are established. For a continuous display, make sowings at two to three weekly intervals. Sowings made in curves rather than straight lines often create a more pleasing effect. Do not feed as this will encourage leafy growth rather than flowers.
• A hardy annual, it can be sown where it is to flower
• Rounded cushions of electric blue all summer long
• Lovely sown in drifts at the front of a sunny border
Sow time: Mar-Jun
