Description
Petroselinum sativum, more commonly known as Flat Leaf Parsley, is a bushy biennial with green, aromatic leaves growing in tripinnate rosettes. In the plants second year, its flowering stems will fill with yellow blossoms which grow in umbels.
Flat Leaf Parsley is one of the most common herbs, and is both versatile and easy to grow. It makes for an excellent garnish, with its lush green leaves, fresh taste and light scent. It can be chopped up and sprinkled in hummus, soups, potato dishes (mashed or boiled), or mixed with ground meats as a spice. Commonly used in Middle Eastern cuisine.
It will fare well in a sunny spot on your kitchen windowsill, or a raised herb garden out on your patio. Makes for an excellent gift to any aspiring cook, for easy access to fresh, fragrant herbs.
