Description
Boasting rich flower colour and a long blooming period , the Astrantia ‘Venice’, also known by the common name of ‘Masterwort’, is an upright herbaceous perennial shrub with deeply divided, mid-to-dark green foliage that sits in clumps beneath the branching stems which carry deep burgundy-red or purple flowers consisting of rounded panicles of tiny florets above a ring of long, narrow bracts. These flowers are some of the longest flowering Astrantia, lasting from early Summer right through to the start of Autumn.
Plant in moisture retentive, humus-rich, fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun in a sheltered position. Tolerates drier soils and conditions once established but does not tolerate drought conditions.
