Description
Raised from a seedling of Cox’s Orange Pippin about 1918 in Kent. Very heavy regular cropper, superb, intense aromatic flavour, crisp and juicy, golden-yellow with orange-red flush. A smaller apple than Cox but it is much easier to grow as it is more disease resistant and is widely grown as an excellent garden variety. The blossom attracts bees, and later any fallen fruit is eagerly consumed by thrushes and other similar birds. Bullfinches are, unfortunately, partial to the buds.
