Phlox ‘Rembrandt’

We defy you to find a cultivar of Phlox paniculata with brighter or whiter flowers than those of Phlox ‘Rembrandt’. In fact, its flowers are practically the purest white of any white garden flower! They stand out like beacons against their green leaves, especially in a lightly shaded border where other flowers will merge into the gloom. Amazingly, the blooms are also highly scented—particularly on a warm, still, summer’s day, when the fragrance is intoxicating. This fragrance is, of course, designed to attract any passing butterflies or other pollinating insects.

Most types of Phlox are excellent for cutting and indoor vase decoration, and this cultivar is no exception. It is also a very accommodating plant: it is tolerant of all soil conditions, in full sun or part shade, it is happy in borders or patio containers, and is even relatively slug-resistant!

With a height of up to 90cm, Phlox paniculata ‘Rembrandt’ is best situated mid-way in a border, where its flowers can be viewed unobscured, from mid-summer until well into autumn.
