Hemerocallis ‘String Bikini’

Description

Hemerocallis ‘String Bikini’, which first came to the attention of gardeners in 2002, is what is known as a spider daylily. This is defined as a cultivar with blooms that have petals four times or more the length of their width. In other words, besides being very pretty, the flowers of daylily ‘String Bikini’ have an interesting star shape, with long and skinny petals. With this cultivar each bloom, which has a sight fragrance, is around 17cm across, and is held on stalks which can be 80cm high. Even better, it often sends out a second flush of bloom towards the end of the summer.

Hemerocallis ‘String Bikini’ has a unique colour combination, too, with each bloom having a golden yellow throat, blending in to greenish yellow petals with pink-purple tips and purple along some edges.
