Description
Native to Brazil, Guyana, and French Guiana, Philodendron billietiae is hemi-epiphytic, meaning its spends part of its life as an epiphyte climbing trees. Bright green, leathery leaves grow elongated and heart-shaped, becoming rippled at the edges with maturity. Its warm orange stem is instantly recognisable, and as a natural climber the plant will thrive if provided with a support.
WATERING
In S/S water when 20% of the top soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 50%. To increase humidity during S/S, mist the plant occasionally or sit it on top of a tray of pebbles with water.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Bright, indirect.
FEED
Use a houseplant fertiliser every two months from April – October.
REPOTTING
Repot every 2-3 years when pot is full. Use a well draining house plant compost with added draining medium like perlite.
