Description

Sarracenia Hammerhead is a truly remarkable carnivorous plant with an unusual, powerful appearance that instantly draws attention. This spectacular cultivar is believed to originate from complex breeding involving strong influences of Sarracenia leucophylla and Sarracenia purpurea, resulting in its distinctive broad hoods, compact yet robust pitchers and dramatic shape that inspired the name Hammerhead.

The plant produces beautifully coloured pitchers with striking veining and a sculptural form that gives it an almost prehistoric character. As the traps mature, they attract insects naturally, which are captured and digested by the plant to provide nutrients one of the many fascinating aspects of growing carnivorous plants.

Despite its exotic look, Sarracenia Hammerhead is relatively easy to care for. Place it in full sun for the strongest colours and healthiest growth, and keep the compost consistently moist using only rainwater or distilled water. During the growing season it produces impressive flushes of new pitchers, before entering a natural winter dormancy that helps it return even stronger in spring.

An outstanding and highly collectable Sarracenia for enthusiasts looking for something truly different.
