Description
A superb, relatively new, Heuchera with mounding habit and very dark purple, nearly black, silky leaves with fantastic, heavily ruffled edges and purple undersides giving a chocolate warmth to the black. In winter the foliage will take on a slightly browner hue, and any untidy foliage should be trimmed out in the spring. In June and July dainty pink flowers appear and are held on erect pink stems above the foliage and these are attractive to bees and butterflies. This is a strong growing variety reaching its ultimate size quickly and has the advantage of being rabbit and deer resistant, and drought tolerant. Due to its strong colour it will make a striking statement when planted with variegated Hostas. Tolerant of full sun, but better planted in partial shade in any fertile, well drained soil. Height 30cm (1ft) Spread 36cm (14ins) Flower Height 50cm (21ins)
