Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-21 days. For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks.
Care When harvesting, select alternate young carrots from the row, allowing the remainder to develop fully. No other thinning is needed if sown thinly. Keep well watered to prevent the roots splitting. Keep weed free at all times. Protect early sowings with cloches.
Harvest June to October. Harvest the roots up to golf ball size. Lift remainder in October, remove soil from roots and store in dry sand. Sow little and often for crisp, bite-size carrots.
