For outdoor sowingWhen March to May and August to October. Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position. How Sow thinly in rows 25cm apart. Cover lightly with fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear 14-28 days. Make 2-3 sowings for a longer flowering season. Care When large enough thin to 15cm apart. Keep moist and weed free. Flowers June to September. Late sowings flower the following year. Dead head to prolong flowering.
Often called the ‘Bluebottle’ it is now rarely seen in our cornfields but can easily be grown in borders or a ‘wild’ garden. Attracts beneficial insects.
