Description
Hardy, native, deciduous tree tolerant of most situations, but prefers an acid to neutral soil. White, pollen and nectar rich flower heads in June followed by large bunches of orange-red berries in autumn, which are irresistible to birds. The berries can be made into a delicious rowan jelly. Leaves typically have 15 sharply toothed leaflets, dark green and smooth above, blue-green and usually downy beneath when young then turning orange in autumn. Other varieties are listed in the Ornamental Trees section.
