Delphinium ‘Guardian Blue’ produces sensational tower-like spikes of rich, deep blue-purple flowers from June – earlier than most delphiniums – soaring to around 1.2m. Each semi-double bloom carries a crisp white eye at its centre, creating a jewel-like intensity that’s genuinely hard to beat.
Plant this perennial at the back of a sunny border for dramatic vertical impact, and cut those strong, sturdy stems and bring the colour indoors. Florists rate these blooms highly as long-lasting vase flowers, and bees simply can’t resist them.
The ‘Guardian’ Series was bred specifically to flower earlier than other delphiniums, getting your display underway from June. Fully hardy throughout the UK, it returns reliably year after year with the same spectacular show.
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position. Suitable for large containers as well as traditional borders.
