Description
Commonly known as French lavender, Lavandula Stoechas is an aromatic dwarf shrub popular as border and bedding plants. Its compact size also makes it ideal for growing in a large plant pot or container.
These herb plants for garden use have a long flowering period with deep purple blooms appearing in spring and lasting all the way to early autumn. The flowers grow on tall, upright stems and feature little bracts in a lighter shade of purple on top. Lavender flowers are bee-friendly and attract all kinds of pollinators to the garden. Foliage is grey-green in colour with narrow, linear leaves. Lavandula Stoechas are highly scented plants with aromatic leaves and fragrant flowers.
French lavender is commonly used for making herbal teas. However, it has other culinary uses, such as flavouring couscous, soups, and other savoury dishes. This cultivar is ideal for growing fresh herbs in pots or in the garden.
This variety is less hardy than English lavender and may need extra protection against harsh winter temperatures. However, this lavender plant is a great small all-rounder shrub ideal for almost any area of the patio or garden. Plant in a sheltered, sunny spot in well-draining soil and cut the flower stems back once the blooms have faded.
Please Note: When purchasing real plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
