Description
Westringia fruticosa is a wonderfully versatile evergreen shrub that brings structure and colour to the garden throughout the year. Known as Coastal Rosemary or Australian Rosemary, it forms a naturally tidy plant with narrow green leaves that reveal attractive silvery undersides when stirred by the breeze.
Fresh shoots appear in soft silvery green. From late spring onwards, delicate tubular flowers begin to appear. These soft white to pale blue blooms are lightly freckled in the throat and continue to appear through summer and often into early autumn.
Pollinating insects visit the flowers regularly, making this shrub both attractive and wildlife friendly.
Westringia fruticosa performs exceptionally well in exposed coastal gardens where wind and salty air can challenge many other plants. This reliability has earned it the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Growing to around 1.5 metres tall, it creates a rounded evergreen shrub that works beautifully in borders or as a low informal hedge. It can also be grown in containers to add structure and long lasting foliage interest to patios and terraces.
Supplied as an established plant in an 18cm pot, ready to plant.
