Description
Thyme Lady is a low-growing sub shrub thyme herb plant with a bushy habit. Its evergreen foliage is dark green and the small, glossy leaves are dotted with creamy-yellow accents. In summer, crimson-red buds bloom into light pink-purple flowers, crowning these garden plants in colour all summer long.
Ideal for planting in a bed, border, or plant pot, Thyme Lady is a valuable addition to any herb garden. However, they also make great ground cover plants ready to plant in rockeries and gravel gardens.
Thyme is a versatile culinary herb and has a variety of uses in the kitchen. Dried thyme is excellent for flavouring stews, soups, savoury preserves, and stuffings. Alternatively use thyme fresh to complement fish and chicken dishes. Thyme works well in bouquet-garni, and its decongestant properties make it a popular choice of herbal tea.
These herbs plants are hardy to harsh winter temperatures and are drought tolerant, so only need to be watered during prolonged dry spells. A hard pruning after flowering helps maintain the shrub’s size and shape and, when necessary, large clumps should be divided in spring.
