Description

Digitalis ‘Falcon Fire’ brings a smoulder of sunset colour to summer borders, with upright spires of salmon-pink to orange foxglove flowers, neatly brushed with deeper rose. The blooms rise from a bushy rosette of dark green foliage, giving the plant a pleasingly full, grounded look before the fireworks begin. Compact yet lively, Digitalis ‘Falcon Fire’ is well suited to mixed borders, generous pots and wildlife-friendly schemes, where its warm tones sit beautifully with bronze grasses, dusky heucheras and soft green foliage. There is a slightly tropical flicker to Digitalis ‘Falcon Fire’, but it still keeps that classic foxglove elegance.

As a half-hardy, semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial, Digitalis ‘Falcon Fire’ appreciates a sheltered position in sun or partial shade, with fertile, well-drained soil and protection from the sharpest winter weather. Its flowering spikes bring useful height without becoming bulky, so it slips easily between perennials rather than elbowing them aside. Bees will make themselves quite at home among the tubular flowers, while gardeners can enjoy the long, glowing display from early summer onwards. Deadhead to keep the plant tidy, or leave a few spent stems for a softer, more natural finish. As with all foxgloves, Digitalis ‘Falcon Fire’ is toxic if eaten, so place it thoughtfully. Warm, unusual and wonderfully poised, Digitalis × valinii ‘Falcon Fire’ is a confident choice for colour with character.
