Description
This is a pear of superlatives which is grown all over the world both in gardens and for the market. It is handsome, large, melting, very juicy, rich and lucious – a most outstanding pear for flavour. Pale cream flesh ripening to yellow with pale yellow which occasionally has a red flush. A connoisseur’s variety. It needs a warm sheltered site to thrive, so ideal for fan training on a south facing wall. Needs good pollination – Concorde is ideal. Raised in Angers, France in 1849 and introduced to Britain in 1858.
