Description
Cotinus ‘Old Fashioned’ or sometimes known as Smoke bush is a tough, bushy shrub which adds some nice colour to any garden layout or display. It is most notable for its broad, ovate foliage which cycles through a range of bright and interesting colours as the leaves mature with the seasons, starting in the late Spring as purple-red when young, changing to a blue-green as they mature and finally turning to red in the Autumn. Cotinus also blooms panicles of tiny yellow flowers in the Spring which sit above the foliage.
Plant in moderately fertile, well-drained soil and maintain soil moisture. Prefers full sun to partial sun and will gain more colourful leaves if kept in full sun. Flowering is somewhat erratic and differs year to year.
