Lupinus Desert Sun is a clump-forming, vigorous, perennial plant with strong, tall flower spikes and palmate, mid-green leaves. This lupin features erect spikes of closely packed, rich custard yellow flowers with newer pale green buds appearing near the top. This delightful lupin, with its elegant line and fine textured foliage, is a perfect filler plant for the front of a mixed border. Providing a long blooming period from late spring into early summer, this impressive perennial will brighten up your bedding areas and patio containers.
Provide a sheltered location to protect your Lupines from winds or stake the flowers well with bamboo canes in spring before the flowers appear. Deadhead regularly to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect the young plants from slug and snail attacks.
