Description

Cistus are a genus of showy evergreen shrubs grown for their saucer-shaped, usually five petalled white to dark pink flowers which are carried singly or in clusters from early to late summer. Although each blossom lasts only one day they are produced so freely the shrub is always colourful. They are suitable for a shrub border, a sunny bank, the base of wall or are ideal for containers. Grow in poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil in a sheltered site in full sun. Pinch back young plants after flowering to encourage a bushy Silver Pink carries beautiful papery silver-pink flowers with lighter centres and yellow stamens, each flower 5-6cm across, in long clusters over lanceolate silvery-green leaves which are grey-green beneath.
