Description
This perennial grass is amply distributed from Florida and Mexico to Central and South America, where it grows along roadsides, riverbanks, forest margins and in pastures. It forms dense tufts of robust, upright culms that reach up to 2.5 m in height. The leaf blades are keeled and smooth, with rough margins and the white, feathery inflorescences are somewhat similar to cotton balls. Also known as West Indian Foxtail Grass, Andropogon bicornis makes a nice ornamental.
