A first early variety with thick and tasty shanks that show a high ratio of white to green. Sow indoors for early crops or sow outdoors for ease. For indoor sowing

Where In trays of seed compost.
How Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15°C. Seedlings appear in 14-21 days.
Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). When 10cm tall transplant into holes 15cm apart with 30cm between rows.
Harvest September to November.
For outdoor sowing
When March to April.
Where In a prepared seed bed.
How Sow thinly in rows 20cm apart. Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil. Care When 10cm tall transplant to growing position into holes 15cm apart with 30cm between rows.
Harvest October to December. Earth up the stems in autumn for extra
whiteness.
