Description
Tray of 6x Dioscorea elephantipes in 8.5cm diameter pot.
Dioscorea elephantipes, commonly known as the Elephant’s Foot due to the texture of its woody caudex, is a vining caudiciform plant much loved by collectors. Although the vine, with its climbing tendrils and delicate heart-shaped leaves, tends to grow from late Summer through to early Spring, we have found that this plant has a certain disregard for the rules and so observation is key when caring for this unusual member of the yam family.
WATERING
Water when soil is dry 100% and the plant is producing a vine. When dormant, refrain from watering.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Full sun.
FEED
Use a cactus fertiliser twice between July – November (dependent on when the plant is in its growing period).
REPOTTING
Repot every 2-3 years. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
POT SIZE / HEIGHT
8.5CM / 12CM. Please note that, due to their natural variability, specimens’ height may be within 10-20% of the stated height below.
Plant is supplied in it’s plastic nursery pot.
