This single-stemmed palm-like shrub is the ideal way to add year round colour and interest to the garden. Cordyline Torbay Red is native to New Zealand as, as you might expect, it does prefer to be planted in a spot with full or at least partial sun. It also likes to be sheltered from the worst of the wind and rain.

Also known as ‘Cabbage Palm’ this shrub copes well in most soil types and doesn’t need much looking after to retain its striking appearance. In fact, other than keeping an eye on watering, the only day-to-day duty involved with Cordyline is removing any damaged or dead leaves from around the bottom of the plant. Cabbage Palm isn’t very hardy to extreme cold and benefits from insulation or being brought inside when the temperature drops.

Cordyline Torbay red is equally happy planted in-ground in flower beds or borders or in a pot or container. This makes it perfect for almost any spot in the garden, whether you wish to add off-season interest to borders and flower beds or add a splash of colour to the patio or front garden.
