Description
A variation of Gala introduced in 1970s. Crisp, aromatically sweet, honeyed, well flavoured, juicy, thin skinned apples with pinkish-orange stripes over yellow. Reliable good heavy cropper, one of the most popular eating apples in the world. A cross between Coxs and Golden Delicious. A New Zealand variety. Moderately vigorous, spreading habit producing spurs freely. The blossom attracts bees, and later any fallen fruit is eagerly consumed by thrushes and other similar birds. Bullfinches are, unfortunately, partial to the buds.
