An easy plant to grow and care for, aloe vera is an evergreen succulent requiring little water due to its retaining properties which come from its native desert habitat.

The leaves and extract are said to provide health benefits: soothing, moisturising and healing skin conditions and are also used as ingredients in skin creams, gels and food items.
