Description
The aptly named vanilla ice cream variety of sweet peas is known for its creamy color and sweet scent. The plants produce an abundance of ivory blooms that are highly fragrant. Although the stems of this variety are slightly shorter than other Spencer Series varieties, the plants are vigorous and productive. This allows for the foliage and tendrils to be cut along with the flowers, providing additional stem length and greenery that is necessary for filling out bouquets or design work. It is important to note that Spencer Series sweet peas are considered late-flowering due to their requirement of at least 12 hours of daylight. This is unlike more modern sweet pea varieties that have been bred for winter production, which may only need 10-11 hours of daylight.
