Description
Alipinia rugosa is native to Southern Hainan in China, where it grows in tropical conditions. As a geophyte it has an underground storage system, a rhizome, which it grows from and uses to store nutrients and water. This tropical ginger species produces deep green leathery leaves, which are rippled towards the venation, with have a fuzzy texture.
WATERING
In S/S water when the top surface of the soil has dried out. In A/W allow top soil to dry out 10%.
LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Bright, indirect. Avoid direct sunlight.
FEED
Use a houseplant fertiliser every 3-4 weeks during the growing season (April – September).
REPOTTING
Repot every 2-3 years using a houseplant compost or when roots appear from the bottom of the nursery container.
