Description
Spiraea are a group of mainly deciduous ornamental shrubs grown for their showy flowers borne in profusion in spring or early summer. Many also have very attractive new foliage. They are good specimens for a mixed shrub border, the taller varieties make interesting informal hedges, and the dwarf varieties are useful on a large rockery. Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, but protect colourful new foliage from late Snowmound is a tough, easy to grow, small mound forming variety with rounded, dark green leaves. The elegant arching branches will be covered with dense clusters, 4cm across, of freely produced small, 5 petalled, dainty white flowers held tightly together in May and June. These are attractive to a wide range of insects. It will thrive in either sheltered or exposed positions. Height and spread 1m.
