Description
Sow seeds indoors between April and May.
Sow seeds vertically, 1 cm deep, in individual small pots (7.5cm pots).
Place the pots in a propagator set to a constant 19-22c. Maintaining a steady temperature is essential until germination.
Keep the compost consistently moist. Seeds should germinate within 5-10 days.
Once seedlings develop 2-3 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots, around 2 litres in size (approximately 12-15cm diameter).
Harden plants off gradually by placing them outdoors during the day and bringing them inside overnight for 4-5 days.
Transplant outdoors from mid-May, once all risk of frost has passed.
Feed every 14 days with a potash-rich fertiliser to encourage flowering and fruiting.
Water regularly, keeping the soil moist, but avoid getting the developing fruit wet.
Harvest regularly once the fruit reach around 15cm long to prolong cropping.
