Description
Lupinus Beefeater is a vigorous, perennial plant with sturdy stems rising above bushy clumps of palmate, bright green leaves. This lupin features erect spikes of densely packed, brilliant red flowers with a small yellow fleck in the centre of the upper petal. The flowers open up from the bottom over several weeks, providing a long blooming period from late spring into early have long been cultivated by gardeners for their elegant line, exquisite colours and fine textured foliage. An impressive perennial, providing a shot of vibrant colour that can easily be incorporated into a border with a hot colour theme or to add height to patio containers.
Provide a sheltered location to protect your Lupines from winds or stake the flowers well with bamboo canes in spring before the flowers appear. Deadhead regularly to encourage a second flush of flowers. Protect the young plants from slug and snail attacks.
