Description
A large suckering deciduous shrub with green heart-shaped leaves which will make a colourful informal hedge, or can be grown as a specimen shrub or small tree. Masses of richly scented pale mauve flower heads in May, attractive to butterflies and other pollinating insects. Any fertile soil, full sun preferred but will tolerate partial shade. Syringa vulgaris is the wild lilac from which our modern named varieties have been selected.
