Description
Sow seeds from March to mid-July in modules or trays undercover.
Sow 0.5-1 cm deep in moist seed compost and lightly cover.
Keep soil moist and the seeds should germinate in 7-14 days.
Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle, keeping them in bright, cool conditions.
Transplant outdoors from April to early August, spacing plants 25-30 cm apart.
Water regularly to prevent the plants from bolting.
Harvest from May (or late June for mature hearts) to mid-October, picking outer leaves or whole heads as required.
