Description
Start the seeds indoors from February-March.
Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost and lightly cover.
Keep at a temperature of 18-20c until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within 10-21 days.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into their final flowering position.
Space plants about 30-40cm apart.
Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
Stake taller plants if necessary to support umbels.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming, or leave some to self-seed for the following season.
