Description
Start the seeds outdoors in a wellprepared seedbed from Janary-April.
Sow thinly in drills about 2-3mm deep.
Keep the soil consistently moist until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate over a long period and can overwinter to naturally cold stratify the seed.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to about 15 cm spacing.
Alternatively, sow indoors and plant out after the danger of frost has passed.
Water regularly in dry spells until established.
Leave some seed heads on the plant if you want natural selfseeding for future seasons.
Harvest mature pods in autumn for decorative use.
