Opuntia miquelii

Description

The Miqueliopuntia genus contains a single species, Miqueliopuntia miquelli (or Opuntia miquelii). This branched and cylindrical cactus can be found in the deserts of northern Chile, where it grows in abundance. The young bright green branches eventually turn to an icy blue shade, sheltered by clusters of short and long spines.

WATERING

Water when soil is dry 100%. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months.

LIGHT REQUIREMENTS

Full sun.

FEED

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March – November.

REPOTTING

Repot every 2-3 years. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
