Magnolia can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs, with large, showy, often fragrant flowers, often opening before the leaves, and sometimes followed by colourful cone-like fruit
A popular medium sized shrub, Magnolia stellata ‘Rosea’ has masses of flowers, pale pink while in bud opening to very pale pink or white flowers in April / May. The slow-growing, densely branching habit makes this Magnolia very suitable for gardens with limited space, or even for being grown in a large container.
