Sow the seed on the surface of welldrained seed compost and gently cover.
Place in a heated propagator between 20-25c.
Germination should occur between 7-21 days.
Once large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions.
Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions after all risk of frost has passed.
Water regularly while plants become established, especially in dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.
Plants will usually flower from early summer through to autumn.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming and reduce unwanted selfseeding.
Seeds can also be sown in autumn for early flowering the following year.
