Description
Sow directly outdoors from AprilJune in a wellprepared seedbed.
Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of well-prepared, moist soil and lightly cover.
Keep the soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge.
Seeds will usually germinate within 14-28 days.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to about 20-30 cm apart.
Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued flowering and prolong the season.
Leave some seed heads if you want natural self-seeding for the following season.
Sow September-November under cloches for earlier flowering the next year.
