Description
Start the seeds indoors from February-April.
Soak the seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours before sowing to aid germination.
Sow the seeds about 5mm deep in moist, well-drained seed compost and lightly cover.
Keep at a temperature of 20-24c until germination occurs.
Seeds will usually germinate within 14-42 days but can be slow.
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots.
Grow on in bright, warm conditions, keeping the compost just moist.
Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny, sheltered site with well-drained soil.
Space plants about 45-60cm apart to allow room for growth.
Water regularly during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.
Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming throughout the season.
Please note: seeds and all parts of the plant for all Datura species are poisonous and extremely toxic so always wash hands after contact.
